Weekly 5 With Leadership
Gullarn ngheere, Welcome to this beautiful place,
I begin this week with a heart full of gratitude. Catholic Education, Rockhampton Diocese, provides schools where excellence in teaching and learning occurs in a faith-filled setting, with the Gospel teachings of Jesus Christ at our centre. The leadership of our Director, Miss Leesa Jeffcoat, is foundational to the journey that each of our schools walks each day. The Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton will honour Miss Jeffcoat as she concludes her time in the role of Diocesan Director after 23 years of committed service to the Diocese. Please see the communication below from Catholic Education regarding the appointment of Mr Michael McCusker as the new Director of Catholic Education for the Rockhampton Diocese effective from 1 July 2024.
Next Thursday, May 9, is a wonderful opportunity for the partnership between home and school to be strengthened through our School Open Morning. This first-hand experience allows parents/grandparents and significant people in students’ lives to delve into the routines in your child’s classroom, for your child to showcase current learning, and to see the positive relationships that envelop your child’s day. Families are most welcome to join us for hospitality in the Prep Undercover area after the visit. School Tours for new families will commence from the School Office, in particular, we welcome our Prep 2025 families to this exciting morning.
It is with sadness that I share with you this week that Miss Mikaela Jones, 3A teacher, will be taking leave for the remainder of 2024. We are very grateful for Mikaela’s commitment to teaching and I know that our St Francis community joins me in wishing Mikaela every blessing during this time. Continuity of teaching and learning in Year 3A is a priority with Miss Rachel Clarke and Mrs Kylie Linforth taking on co-teaching positions. Subsequent positions of PE and elements of IC Maths will be considered in the coming weeks as Rachel and Kylie focus their time with 3A.
Every Tuesday and Friday there is a ‘buzz’ in the air as lunchtime rolls around – our school tuckshop days are very popular and an important way that St Francis Catholic Primary supports families in providing nutritious lunch options for students. The existence of the school tuckshop relies on the parent volunteers to assist Liri in food order preparation and delivery to our hungry and eager customers. Our current system is to allocate a class per week to volunteer which takes the pressure off ‘showing up every week’, with the class informed a fortnight prior of their roster. This information is shared through the Class SeeSaw page. Many weeks have seen a struggle with few to no volunteers, creating enormous challenges for the smooth routines of tuckshop. Please consider offering a few hours where you can, email Liri_Ashtar@rok.catholic.edu.au
Blessings on your weekend,
PAX et bonum,
Meredith
Parents & Friends Group Update
Our Parents and Friends team met on Monday 22 April, with an air of energy and commitment to supporting our children's learning experiences and to discuss upcoming events for Term 2 that certainly have our school 'Journeying as Family in Peace Through Love'. The parents who attend meetings represent all parents who are valued advocates for our school. Please see below the meeting minutes, the P&F Financials, and most importantly, the many ways parents can be involved in upcoming events.
