Term 4 Week 3
Weekly 5 With Leadership
Gullarn ngheeree - Welcome to this beautiful place,
The third week of our school term has been rich with the routines of learning. My class visits this week witnessed learning through word study, dictation challenges, reading comprehension, sustained quick-writes, and honing our skills in subtraction. Our classroom life is built on a foundation of calm and consistent learning environments enhancing students’ concentration, creativity, and overall well-being. Consistency and predictability in daily routines provide students with a sense of security and stability. Structured schedules help children understand what to expect each day, reducing anxiety and fostering a sense of responsibility. From morning prayers to end-of-day reflections, our routines support growth in all aspects of self - academic, physical, social/emotional, and spiritual. Relief teachers who work in our school consistently share with me their positive experiences with students who are calm, engaged, and thriving in their learning.
As we look ahead to 2025, our Parents and Friends team is eager to hear your thoughts and suggestions. Your input on how we can further enhance our school community is valued. A Google form was emailed to all parents this week to enable this process.
Our school calendar can be accessed through the Parent Orbit app, helping our parents stay abreast of important dates this term.
God’s blessings upon your weekend,
PAX et bonum - Peace and all goodness,

The month of October is a very special month for Catholic Schools around Australia. We celebrate World Mission Month where, as a community we come together to make change, build a more just world and raise money to create opportunities for children, families, and communities all over the world.
John 15:12-15 ‘My Commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you. The greatest love you can have for your friends is to give your life for them. And you are my friends if you do what I command you.’
Today St Francis Catholic Primary celebrated Socktober Day, a day where students wear their craziest socks to school. Year 6 hosted a soccer shoot-out competition. The entire school participated, raising money and educating classes on the importance of helping those in need and fostering a sense of empathy and social responsibility. Year 6 created an opportunity for students to engage in a meaningful activity, learn about important causes, and see the difference our efforts can make. This year we are raising money for the Caring Centre in Mongolia. The Caring Centre provides a home for families especially children who have nowhere else to call home.
This afternoon, Mrs Whitfield’s Prep class joined Fr Andrew and families for their Friendship Prayer Celebration which was a wonderful way to finish Socktober Day. Friendship is one of the best gifts in life. Sometimes being a friend is hard, but with God’s help, we can all be good friends. Friends are with you in good times and in bad times. Friendship is like a tree. The more love and care you put into it, the stronger it becomes. When Jesus was questioned, ‘Who is my neighbour’, He told the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:29–37). Jesus makes it clear in this parable that our neighbour is anyone around us, regardless of their ethnic, religious, or socio-economic status.
Lord,
I ask that you help me to love my neighbour with the same kind of love that you have for me. Lord help me to see my neighbor through your eyes. Show me ways that I can help them, and through that help, then be able to show them the love of Jesus. We ask this prayer in your name Jesus Christ, son of God.
Amen
Pax et bonum,
Libby

World Educators' Day 2024
Australia will celebrate the teaching profession on World Teachers’ Day on Friday 25 October 2024.
Let’s celebrate Australia’s teachers for their skilled work in educating, inspiring and supporting our young people, especially our awesome teachers here at St Francis. Hats off to teachers this World Teachers’ Day!
The Parents & Friends group is encouraging students to wear a special / fun hat on Friday 25 October and “take their hat off” to teachers throughout the day. Please note that hats must be sun-safe.
Students will have the opportunity to write messages of celebration on posters that will be displayed in the staffroom for our teachers to read on World Educators' Day.
The Parents and Friends Group is also providing our teaching staff with a lovely morning tea on the day as a way of saying thank you from the school parent community.
