Term 4 Week 5
Weekly 5 With Leadership
Gullarn ngheeree - Welcome to this beautiful place,
The most significant event in our school calendar is fast approaching—our Celebration Assembly. This is ‘a precious as gold’ moment that honors the gifts of members of our St Francis Catholic Primary school community.
First and foremost, we honor our students - sporting stars, academic minds, cultural weavers - these students who have committed to something important to them (whether it be early morning rises to swimming training, bedding under the covers engrossed in a novel or a pile of favourite picture books - the foundation of great Literacy achievements, or the rhythm of musical instrument practice) - and through that commitment, their light shines brightly.
Our teachers, through their class conversations with us at this assembly, share the light that shines in each of the students with whom they walk gently each day. In doing so, the light of each student is honored.
The Celebration Assembly is an important opportunity to acknowledge the leadership of our Year 6 students throughout 2024 - for their leadership is integral to our school culture. Alongside this gratitude lays the excitement of announcing our school captains for 2025.
Our Year 5 students are ‘sharpening their Leadership saw’ in these next few weeks as they reflect on student leadership at St Francis Catholic Primary through speech preparations, and practice the art of hospitality by leading our 2025 Prep parents on a school tour at the upcoming Prep Transition mornings. All student leadership roles are modeled on the Gospel values, providing an opportunity for senior students to become self-aware of their gifts, sharing them with our school community through service-leadership as mirrored in Jesus Christ.
A further highlight of the Celebration assembly is to honor the recipient of this year’s Spirit Guardian award. I am grateful to the nominations received for this award honouring the sustained and faith-filled contributions of an adult within our school community.
We look forward to your company, with the assembly commencing at 9.00 am on Wednesday 13 November followed by a Parent’s morning tea.
God’s blessings upon your weekend,
PAX et bonum - Peace and all goodness,
Meredith Grove
